"Tell the chef, the beer is on me."
I bought this because I know it will make a great present for someone this holiday season. I’m thinking the boyfriend’s parents, but I feel like it’s one of those gifts that really anyone could appreciate.
Bought this for only $14.50 (Incl. S&H)~ off Amazon a month back. Link.
Kevin Rose’s Pownce is dead.
Official message to users from co-founder Leah Culver:
We have some very big news today at Pownce. We will be closing the service and Mike and I, along with the Pownce technology, have joined Six Apart, the company behind such great blogging software as Movable Type, TypePad and Vox. We’re bittersweet about shutting down the service but we believe we’ll come back with something much better in 2009. We love the Pownce community and we will miss you all.
Pownce shuts down for good on Dec. 15th.

Wow. Interesting stuff. I guess it never took off. Twitter is the “big boss” when it comes to micro-blogging in less than 140 characters. I was at Pownce for sometime, but no one else was. Or at least, it seemed like no one else was using it. So I stopped using it too. It did have some cool features though, which Twitter lacks. But these are the features (or lack thereof) that make Twitter easier to use. And Pownce, more difficult.
First snow of winter 2008
“ At the end of 10 minutes, there was a pile of bodies in the blood-splattered waiting hall. We helped put the injured and dead in passing vehicles to take to the hospital. There was nobody else to help. The police came after half and hour, made enquiries and left. They offered no resistance to the two men who shot scores of people and walked away. It’s a scary thought. There is no security left in India. There is no value on life. ”— BBC NEWS | South Asia | Eyewitness: Mumbai survivors I don’t know how long it will take me to get over this. Maybe I’ll never get over it. I don’t want to either.

This is exactly how I feel about life. Maybe I need to see a doctor too.
And it started snowing again! I wonder how difficult it’s gonna be to get my car started tomorrow morning before work. I don’t have a garage and I park my car out in the open. I like snow. It’s the “layering” that gets to me- I hate wearing so many things (warm leggings, sweater, overcoat, boots, warm cap…).

I don’t feel like going for work tomorrow! :-( I had a 5 day long weekend. Can’t wait for Christmas holidays now.
Instead of buying cut Christmas trees, trying renting a potted one this year. The environment will thank you.
So my neighbors finally decided to put a password on their wireless network. I was pretty upset when I tried to check my e-mail this afternoon and discovered that I had been cut off, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t expect it to happen eventually.
I have a computer at school, so I’ll still be able to check things online during the week. But for the next two weekends, I have to wait for my own internet service at home because I don’t get my alien registration card until December 12. It kinda sucks: no phone, no bank account, no internet. I can’t get any of these without a little piece of plastic stating that I can legally reside in this country. Oh well… I must cope without technology until then.
I have no idea what I’ll do with myself all day tomorrow until I go to work Monday morning. God forbid I actually join modern society. I mean - what the hell is out there? People?
If they are using WEP for encryption, you can hack it easily. Google for airsnort or aircrack (this article has some basic info if you need it, as well).
I’m surprised that stupidinboston is alluding to the fact that she can hack into someone else’s network! Not only is this illegal but also unethical. Someone is paying for that internet and they deserve to receive the full bandwidth. I would be mad if someone were to do this to me! I do understand Laozoa’s situation.
