Kansas does the Periodic Table - full picture

Don’t get me wrong I like Kansas, but this is kind of funny.

On my way to Colorado, I was driving through Kansas. Went for hours before finding a gas station. Now I know what it means to be in “the middle of nowhere”.

ROFLMAO. Probably she can take some tips from Miss Teen SC- how to appear in talk shows and justify your actions, even after making a fool out of yourself.

Soup.io will be discontinued :(

Dear soup.io fans and users,

today, we have to share very sad news. Soup.io will stop working in less than 10 days. :(

It's breaking our heart and we honestly tried whatever we could to keep the platform up and running. But the high costs and low revenue streams made it impossible to continue with it. We invested a lot of personal time and money to operate the platform, but when it's over, it's over.

We are really sorry. Soup.io is part of the internet history and online for one and a half decades.

Here are the hard facts:
- In 10 days the platform will stop working.
- Backup your data in this time
- We will not keep backups nor can we recover your data

July, 20th, 2020 is the due date.

Please, share your thoughts and feelings here.

Your Soup.io TEAM

Be under no illusion. There are women employers who are more ruthless than men. They are more conscious of not employing other women because they feel they’re not going to get the value of work out of them
— Sir Alan Sugar in The Times (via gauntlet) I know all about it. I’ve found male bosses to be generally kinder compared to female bosses, who scrutize your hair, your face, your nails, your blouse, shoes and finally…your work.

The Ocean of Subculture is very amusing. I have seen a similar picture, where the buildings and the streets have been named after various web 2.0 companies. It’s there somewhere in my tumblelog.

A marker of a healthy marriage

obiterdicta:

“There’s been research that suggests that’s a marker of a healthy marriage — that men accept influence from their wives.”

More on the Iowa State University research, which found that at least in marriages, women exert greater power than men, here.

Or you can cite Ogden Nash:

To keep your marriage brimming
With love in the loving cup,
Whenever you are wrong, admit it;
Whenever you are right, shut up.

Agree wholeheartedly. No wonder couples start looking like each other after a couple of years. Ogden Nash’s quote is an eye-opener though.

You were the most adorable baby…everyone went gooey over you, especially with those cupie doll lips.  How did his family get those pictures up on the internet since there weren’t digital cameras back then?

Hahaha! I love moms. Mine knows a lot about technology and computers though. :-)

Dear Topherchris

I was trying to post this to cesspoo:

Dear Topherchris,

There are pages and pages of absolute spam on this website. Nobody takes it seriously, including you. I click on the “Post it” button and guess what? You freaking spammed me! This stupid, horrible, spammy website opened up and wouldn’t shut for goddam 5 mins! What a waste! What I was posting made more sense compared to the absolute crap that people post there.

Hmmppff.

When social and market norms collide, trouble sets in. Take sex again. A guy takes a girl out for dinner and a movie and he pays the bills. They go out again, and he pays the bills once more. They go out a third time, and he’s still springing for the meal and the entertainment. At this point, he’s hoping for at least a passionate kiss at the front door. His wallet is getting perilously thin, but worse is what’s going on in his head: he’s having trouble reconciling the social norm (courtship) with the market norm (money for sex). On the fourth date he casually mentions how much this romance is costing him. Now he’s crossed a line. Violation! She calls him a beast and storms off. He should have known that one can’t mix social and market norms-especially in this case- without implying that the lady is a tramp. He should also have remembered the immortal words of Woody Allen: ‘The most expensive sex is free sex.’
— Prof. Dan Ariely, Predictably Irrational (via boutofcontext) I love Woody Allen and his quotes, movies…etc.

To that, I will say, “hahaha” (genuinely funny). Make sure you use the proper number of “h”s and “a”s. ;)

I’m going to use this the next time someone asks me this question. I’m serious.

Doctors with MBAs: Numbers are fast rising- Education-Services-News By Industry-News-The Economic Times

Good to read that people from all disciplines are realizing the importance of having an MBA degree. Even if you’re a doctor, you need to learn “managerial” skills etc. It’s sad that non-Business majors under-estimate the importance of an MBA. I got my MBA even though my previous degree was in Law. This article makes me a happy person today. :-)

It’s been raining here since the past two days. Unfortunately, I don’t have such a pretty umbrella. Else I would have done a Flickr-inspired pic of myself ;) Probably I should buy one just to achieve this objective.

Geek Talk

Why doesn’t Google documents work with Safari? With all the Google love oozing out of Apple, I thought that everything Google would be on!

I know what you mean…there are a couple of funny Google/Apple incompatibilities that have annoyed me recently.

Although I must ask: why do you use Safari as your first-choice browser?  As much as I love most things Apple, I’ve always found their browser sucks.

Thanks for affirming my belief! Actually, I’m not such a big Apple fan girl. I’ve been trying out Safari (on an XP laptop) only since yesterday and the incompatibilities bother me too much. Plus, I don’t think Safari’s any faster than Firefox (even though that is what Steve Jobs would like us to believe).

Geek Talk

Why doesn’t Google documents work with Safari? With all the Google love oozing out of Apple, I thought that everything Google would be on! I use Google docs a lot and the inability of Safari to support this application makes me want to go back to Firefox/Flock again. It’s pointless to keep Safari open just to browse the internet and to keep Firefox open for Google Docs. Only if my laptop had gazillion bits of RAM.
