Happy Thanksgiving!
(via breannajai, emilyposts, askvero)
Love Peanuts. This deserves a reblog.
Just got back from a pub and managed to get drunk on two glasses of Bud Light. Aren’t you jealous? it was happy hours and i hardly spent anything! never knew that a pub can be so packed on Thanksgiving weekend. I thought people are supposed to be home, thanking everyone? Anyway! Been a crazy day so far. I purchased a .com domain for $0.99 at godaddy.com (link posted previously). My mom’s mom is not well and she is at the hospital. She might not be able to make it. :( I haven’t seen her since more than a year. She’s my favorite grand parent. I’m trying not to think about it.
Then I heard news of the Bombay blasts. Those f#%^ing terrorits. Hate them! But you know what? Nothing can break the spirit of Mumbaikars! Yes! Life will go on as if nothing every happened. F$%# those terrorists. They have succeeded in drawing attention, but really…if they think that they can do anything more, then they are in for a lot of depression.
I realized that I have a monthly subscription to make unlimited calls to US and Canada numbers through Skype! I should use that more often and save my AT&T minutes. :) I was looking at Magicjack too, but I like Skype better (it’s cheaper to make international calls).
I have been contemplating jailbreaking my iPhone, but I don’t find enough reasons to actually do it. I checked out the apps that are available for a jailbroken iPhone- and they are not THAT impressive.
I am planning to just take it easy for the rest of the days and not do anything specific. I might have to go to Chicago because a friend has been asking me to visit him. I told him that I’ll come, but I’m still undecided. So yeah, I kinda lied. I’m lazy! I like to sleep and I like to waste my time on Tumblr/Twitter and just stay at home.
Happy TG!

Yesterday, I had my first iPhone scare! I was on my way to my manager’s house to see her new born twin girls. While we were entering her house, I realized that my iPhone was missing. I panicked and started looking around. Didn’t find it. Called up my office and asked a colleague to check if the phone is in my cube and if he finds it, then he can keep it until I return. I called him back after an hour - he hadn’t found it! First, I thought he was joking. Well…it turns out that he really couldn’t find it. This spoiled the rest of my afternoon. I love that thing a little too much. So you can imagine how I must have felt (only if you are a fellow iPhone user. I can feel other non-iPhone users either laughing or sneering).
Convinced that I have to shell out another $400 to get a new one, I walked back to the car. Lo and behold! There it was…fallen at the side of my seat. Happy ending after all.
Glad that I got it back.
“ In 2001-2, only 28 percent of all undergraduate degrees in computer science went to women. By 2004-5, the number had declined to only 22 percent. Data collected by the Computing Research Association showed even fewer women at research universities like M.I.T.: women accounted for only 12 percent of undergraduate degrees in computer science and engineering in the United States and Canada granted in 2006-7 by Ph.D.-granting institutions, down from 19 percent in 2001-2. Many computer science departments report that women now make up less than 10 percent of the newest undergraduates. ”— What Has Driven Women Out of Computer Science? I remember enrolling for a dual course (Bachelors +Masters) in Computer Engineering at University College, London in early 2000s. I changed my mind at the last moment and went to law school instead. Many people believe that computers is a man’s domain. I tend to think that my change in decision had nothing to do with this. Instead, I considered the logistics, cost v. benefit of moving away from my home land at the age of 18 and decided to stay back. The article is interesting in that it introduces several schools of thought. But it doesn’t explore other hardships, personal crisis etc. that might also be a contributing factor.

Who’s Getting Hired in Tech? Last Week’s Jobwire Graphs
Where the heck is “Business Analyst” in the pie chart? I am a very important person. (:
I am not sure why I’m so mad right now. I think the Xbox360 did it. I was trying to learn how to play Forza. It’s not that I suck at it. It’s just that the monotony of these video games really bothers me. It’s the same thing over and over again! I get bored very easily. I tried to play Bioshock before this and I got bored of that too. I feel like shoving that stupid console and controller into my closet now. ):
I booked my ticket to visit Washington, DC for Christmas! I get to be there for 4 days (December 25th-Dec. 28th) and stay at Hyatt Regency at Capitol Hill. :D Ain’t that cool? I really wanted to go to Las Vegas and Grand Canyon, but it was turning out to be freaking expensive. So I settled for DC instead. Always wanted to see all those museums.
I’m happy that I have work tomorrow and I get the rest of the week off for Thanksgiving. I’m not doing anything special special- just stay at home and unwind, clean and sleep all day long in my snuggly comforter. :) I’ve been invited by a family for Thanksgiving lunch but I’m not sure if I want to drive 4 hours each way. I’ll probably NOT go.
I’m getting quite addicted to Tumblr and Twitter currently, which is where the future lies! I haven’t been blogging at Wordpress much, due to a number of reasons. My problems with Wp.com community and the change etc. should be another LONG post. I have been mad about a couple of things happening at Wordpress.com and spoke to a really nice friend about them. I’m happy that he shares my concerns and feels the same way. In fact, he might also start posting here at Tumblr very soon. :-) You need to start following him!
Tumblr is a way of getting to know each other. Somehow, I don’t find pictures/reblogs of pictures interesting/personal enough. I’m realizing that I’ve started enjoying personal text posts/links/chat much more, compared to pictures. Not that I don’t welcome them, but there are some tumblr users who only re-blog pictures and post their own. That’s it! Of course, this might go with their general theme, but it’s tiring for me to try to wade through 5 pages of pictures to find one text post by someone. Hence the unfollowing. So, please don’t mind! Rest assured, I have the URL of your blog memorized and I go there directly. :)
(Get them.)Re-re-reminder for people - Please add comments! Often times I want to tell someone something, but I don’t want to reblog and clutter other peoples dashboards with conversation.
I’d rather you send me an email/feedback. See that link on my tumblr? The one that says “Feedback”? Yeah, use that one.
Email is so 1990’s.
I love getting emails! Please email me if you want to contact me. I’m just lazy when it comes to figuring out Disqus.
